What is my IP address?.
Location comes from your provider's network records, so it is approximate. Nothing on this page is sent to or stored by us.
Your public IP address is what every website and game server sees when you connect. This page shows it, along with your provider and approximate location.
What you can do with it
- Check that a VPN is on, or off.
- Give your address to a game host or a firewall rule that asks for it.
- Compare the address on your phone and your home network.
- Test whether a port is open on it with the port checker.

Questions
What is an IP address?
It is the number that identifies your connection on the internet, a bit like a postal address for your router. Websites see it when you visit them, and it is how replies find their way back to you.
What is the difference between IPv4 and IPv6?
IPv4 addresses look like 203.0.113.7 and the world is running out of them. IPv6 addresses are much longer, like 2001:db8::1, and there are plenty. Many connections now use IPv6, and some use both.
Is the location shown accurate?
Only roughly. It usually points to your internet provider's nearest network hub, so it can be the right city or a nearby one. It does not show your street or your house.
Why is my address different on my phone and my home Wi-Fi?
Each network gives you its own address. Your phone on mobile data shares an address with many other customers of that provider, and your home router has its own.
Does a VPN change this?
Yes. With a VPN on, the address and location shown are the VPN's, not yours. That is a quick way to check the VPN is working.
Do you store my address?
No. The lookup runs between your browser and Cloudflare's public network, so nothing about it is sent to or saved by siteupdown.com.
